Madison may lie far inland, but step into Tempest Oyster Bar and you’ll feel whisked out to sea. While a vintage boat docked in the dining room sets the mood, their menu celebrates flavors plucked from the ocean.

As owner of the East Coast-inspired haunt, Henry Doane says newcomers to the world of oysters shouldn’t be put off by the bite-sized cuisine. Options such as the mild Kusshi or Kumamoto oysters go down easy, but more adventurous diners will also delight in a plethora of exotic oysters on hand. Alternative seafood and steak options can also be found alongside oysters on the menu—which is reprinted daily to reflect the freshest fare.

As weekend music performances bring the dining room to life, this chic eatery offers the perfect atmosphere and eats for a summer reprieve.
