Chef's Corner: Dorf Haus Supper Club
By Caroline Radaj
In a constantly changing world, it can be refreshing to step into a place where time stands still. At Dorf Haus, the quaint German supper club nestled near Sauk City, the spirit of old Europe is alive and well.
Family owned since 1959, Dorf Haus preserves its rich German heritage with classic beer steins and the often-appearing three-piece German band. And while hearty American food is a mainstay of the menu, traditional German fare such as the the Wiener Schnitzel (pictured here) make visiting Dorf Haus truly unique.
There’s no better time to take the trek back in time than between Sept. 17 and Oct. 3, when the restaurant hosts its annual Oktoberfest celebration, complete with a bounty of events, eats and treats. From seasonal specials to dinner theater performances throughout the year, find the spirit of the old world alive and tasty just a jaunt from home.
Dorf Haus is located at 8931 Cty. Rd. Y, Sauk City; (608) 643-3980.
