Chef’s Corner: The Avenue Bar

By Emily Bradley

When Friday rolls around, fish fry fans can satisfy their craving at many a restaurant and bar in Madison.
However, most aren’t serving nearly 1,000 customers every Friday and ordering up to a staggering 900 pounds of Icelandic cod each week to ensure there’s enough to go around. But at The Avenue Bar, a dining room packed to the gills with hungry customers seeking an award-winning fish fry is just your average Friday.
According to general manager Cory Campion, there’s no secret recipe for the fish fry touted as Madison’s best year after year—just quality ingredients, a beer batter made with Wisconsin brews and the knowledge of how to fry fish to perfection.
Not up to fighting off the Friday crowd? The dinner menu offers a fish fry and boil daily to satisfy the craving for award-winning fish any day of the week.

Avenue Bar is located at 1128 E. Washington Ave., Madison; (608) 257-6877 or avenuebarmadison.com.
