My weekly farmers’ market visit happens like clockwork. Latte in hand, I make my loop around the Capitol, grab a couple choice pieces of fruit, plump tomatoes, perhaps a package of Emu jerky (seriously, you’ve got to try it) and finally, I’m off to my last and most anticipated stop: The Silver Corner.
Nestled among the craft tents in front of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, The Silver Corner features a wide variety of gorgeous handcrafted jewelry for a bargain price of about $10 each. From twisted wires to beaded dangles to statement necklaces, artist Sandra Rincon has a talent for creating affordable one-of-a-kind pieces and a passion for her craft that’s palpable.
“What I love most about [my business] is the direct contact with people,” Rincon says. “I love my customers and thanks to them, I’m a better person — I’ll be eternally grateful for that.”
Her fantastic work and contagious kindness is Saturday’s silver lining, keeping me fabulously accessorized and coming back, week after week.
Find The Silver Corner on West Mifflin Street during the Dane County Farmers’ Market on Saturdays, now through November 8. Contact Sandra Rincon at (608) 770-3023 or thesilvercorner@yahoo.com.
